Student Support Links and Services

Below are some resources found on campus or through the college that can help you in your time as a student. Do not hesitate to take advantage of these resources both in and out of class.

Career Center

The Career Center offers workshops, aid, and information on building up to a job after graduation. The center specializes in helping with resumes, connecting students to job opportunities, and offering workshops and information on how to prepare for and do well in an interview.

Counseling and Psychological Services

If students are in need of counseling, they may contact Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Their office is located in SHCC-East, their phone number (which includes crisis counseling) is (657) 278-3040, or you can visit the CAPS Website. CAPS offers a variety of counseling services to help students adjust to college life, cope with personal challenges, gain self-awareness, and address psychological concerns. Students may meet with a counselor for an initial screening and evaluation to determine how the student’s mental health needs can be best met. CAPS also offers various workshops on managing stress, mood, healthy habits, grief, loss, and sleep.

Disability Support Services

If a student has a disability or would like more information on available assistance, they should contact the Office of Disability Support Services, UH 101, tel. 657-278-3117;

If a student is already receiving assistance from the DSS, they should notify the professor during the first week of class.

UPS 3000.004: “The University requires students with disabilities to register with the Office of Disabled Student Services (DSS), located in UH-101 and at 657-278-3117, in order to receive prescribed accommodations appropriate to their disability. Students requesting accommodations should inform the professor during the first week of classes about any disability or special needs that may require specific arrangements/accommodations related to attending class sessions, completing course assignments, writing papers, or quizzes/tests/examinations.”

Adult Reentry and Parenting Student Programs

Students may be able to acquire assistance from these centers if they are eligible: Violence Prevention Programs and/or the Women and Gender Initiatives. They may contact them at: UH 205, tel. (657) 278-3928, Adult ReEntry and Children's Center

WoMen’s Center: “The center is dedicated to the success of nontraditional students. They provide reentry and parenting support services, leadership opportunities and programs to enhance academic and personal development. They offer scholarships, events, resources for pregnant and parenting students such as lactation spaces, and the Children’s Center which offers affordable childcare for CSUF students. The center also offers services to students of domestic violence and abuse, sexual assault, violence prevention programs, and women’s discussion groups.”

Veterans Resource Center

The Veterans Resource Center designs programs and services to support our student's academic, professional, and personal goals. We recognize our students have valuable experience, unique training, and strength of character that enriches their school experience. Therefore, utilizing a strengths-based perspective we aim to engage our students in meaningful programs and deliver effective services that support their success. The Veteran Resource Center offers academic support through tutors, peer mentoring, computer labs, computer check-out services, scholarships, and internships, as well as health and wellness programs, free coffee, a VRC student lounge, a Women’s Veterans Program, Discussion groups, Childcare Stipends, among many other services.
